Fatalism is the view that people have no power to influence the future or their own actions. Fatalists think that all future events have already been predetermined and are inevitable. It is the belief that “what will be will be.” They believe that all past, present, and future events have already been decided upon by some all-powerful force, such as “Fate.” That is where the name, fatalism, comes from.
Fatalism teaches that there is a impersonal force over which no one has control . Essentially, people have no power over any outcomes because this force has already decided an outcome for them. Fatalism is close to the philosophical idea of Determinism. Determinism is the view that every event has a cause and that everything in the universe is dependent on something else. Both ideas strictly oppose Free Will. Fatalism is the idea that all of your choices were already decided while Free Will means that a person makes their own choices.
Do you think people make their own fate or has it already been decided? Why?
